By now it’s no surprise to you that marketing is best done through video. If you don’t have quality video (key word here: “quality”) then why bother?
In fact, no one wants to see a poor quality video, especially on video-sharing platforms… i.e. social media (*psst* this is where most people do their brand research).
Here are the numbers:
From a marketing standpoint, there are many options to which you can get your quality video across to a wide audience. A list of “hot” jobs in the first half of 2018 just came out and all of them are through the digital/creative aspect. However, I thought the production costs of such desired jobs to be the most interesting.
So, how much does quality video really cost?
Well, let me put it into perspective that Apple pays upwards of $500,000 for a commercial production. Let that sink in for a second…
Of course it depends on what you need… But, what you need to know is what the cost of your video actually entails:
- the crew
- the location
- the equipment
- amount of pre-production
- color correcting
Let me be specific here, let’s break down what just the crew costs:
- Documentary DP (Director of Photography): $400-$1,200
- Commercial DP: $650-$2,000
- Full-Service Video Production: $1,500-$300,000 (flat rate)
- Drone Operator: $500-$1,400
- Commercial Video Editor: $400-$1,000
- Motion Graphics Editor: $600-$30,000 (flat rate)
- Sound Technician: $300-$700
- Gaffer: $300-$600
- Grip: $200-$600
